CHECK US OUT

Come to one of our rehearsals.  You may sit in the audience or join us in song.  If you like the experience, ask about becoming a member.

BECOME A MEMBER

You don’t need to be a trained musician or professional singer to sing barbershop.  In fact, only some of us can read music.  The Heart of Florida Chorus achieves singing excellence through a program of music education and vocal training.  If you can carry a tune, we can teach you barbershop harmony.

We don’t just sing the old, standard songs associated with barbershop.  We adapt many genres into the barbershop style.

And we are an inclusive group that welcomes people of all ages, occupations, ethnicities, and religions.

REHEARSALS

In the time of COVID19, the Heart of Florida Chorus offers two options:  in-person rehearsals and Zoom meetings.  You are welcome to attend both.

Our in-person rehearsals are held outdoors with everyone appropriately distanced.  Anyone interested in listening to close four-part a cappella harmony is invited to join us at 2:00 p.m. on Thursdays at Northlake Presbyterian Church, 975 Rolling Acres Rd, Lady Lake, FL.

We also sponsor a Zoom meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Thursdays.  It is a great way to learn about barbershop harmony and listen to some of the best quartets and choruses in the world.  Anyone interested in attending can call the Club’s president at (352) 399-6430 to get a Zoom invitation.

Visitors are always welcome!

They just couldn’t resist this Photo Op.

OUR DIRECTOR - SCOTT WERNER

SPECIAL GUESTS AT REHEARSAL

Scott is one of only two men in Barbershop Harmony Society history to win a gold medal in the Society International Quartet Competition and also as the director of a Society International Chorus Champion in the same year.

After the Chorus took home the award for the Most Improved Chorus in Florida in March 2019, our president, David Bankard, welcomed the women who supported their efforts.  His speech captures the essence of what it means to be part of the Heart of Florida family.

THIS IS BARBERSHOP

If you’ve never experienced the unique harmony that distinguishes barbershop from other forms of a.cappella singing, listen to the choruses and audience at the 2013 International Convention bring our society’s theme song to life.
