JOB TITLE: Frontline Musical Director

LOCATION: The Villages, Florida 32163

ABOUT OUR CHORUS: We are a 35-member a Capella Barbershop Chorus that meets on Thursday nights from 6:30pm to 9:00pm on in Lady Lake, FL. We are a not-for-profit 501-C3 Chorus that performs year ‘round. We produce shows annually and perform for organizations and groups up to four times per month. Our chapter was chartered in 2004 and has a dedicated core group of volunteer members that are faithful to the chorus. Like most organizations of this type, we have ebbed and flowed in membership since being chartered, but we have a forward-looking board of directors that wants to grow the chapter in both numbers and musical ability. The chapter has an existing library of music and a budget to purchase more, as needed. There are multiple quartets within the chapter that compete and perform and represent the chorus and chapter during the year. This chorus competes in the Sunshine District of the Barbershop Harmony Society based in Nashville, Tennessee.

CHOIR DIRECTOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare the chorus and/or small group ensembles
Minimum of 4 rehearsals per month
Prepare special music selections for paid and unpaid performances, and annual show
Collaborate with the music team on music selections
Coach Quartets and chorus with barbershop craft which will improve overall chorus sound and performances

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous experience directing a chorus and singing all 4 parts with some proficiency
Flexibility for performances during the day (as needed)
Proficiency in vocal production, vowel sounds, and proper singing styles
Ability to read music and some education in the music field
Inclusive in helping guests and visitors feel welcome

PAID POSITION:
Pay determined with experience.
Approximate pay scale: $30-$40 dollars per hour (rehearsals), minimum of 1 hour for performances.
